Hello. It's been a while, as usual. I'll go into some previous Minecraft stuff I've written below, feel free to read it, but it's not my best work... by far. I was pretty young when I wrote most of this stuff - but I thought I'd just put it out there. Please tweet me with any ideas on filling in [unfinished] things! Thanks! :D Click that little "Read More" button down below! :D \/ \/ \/ \/ \/ \/ \/ \/

Hello. I haven't been on this site for months now and haven't even opened up IntelliJ in that time either. Custom Machines is a project for later, it will probably be released in MC 1.10 if ever. I'm currently working on a map in vanilla for no_leaf_clover who I have been enjoying watching lately. Insane Survival? Nope, I and my computer are nowhere good enough to record videos. Mystic Engineers is done, we got rid of the server due to lack of player interest and inadequate funding. We might try again later. I'll try to be more active here but no promises. For now I'll keep the site the way it is, all my maps and mods will be hosted here under the downloads section. I keep trying to make all this branding stuff for nothing, I'm just another roamer of the internet like everyone else for now. I'll actually make more useful posts on commands/redstone/coding stuff later hopefully, sometimes I'm a little mini-genius on some things, we'll see.
~lifeofchrome Custom Machines development livestream at twitch.tv/lifeofchrome tomorrow sometime.
MysticEngineers - modded server by myself and iantoon0 - too laggy to record or stream, sorry. But you can apply to join! See the website for more info. Insane Survival - maybe. Still in the works. I made a thing: A hotkey for the tool station - automatically upgrades a tool 10 times with a hotkey (I'm using Ctrl+Alt+T). It's super effective! [credit to AutoHotkey] ~lifeofchrome Well, let's start off with the good news.Custom Machines is now launched by Forge Mod Launcher! While this doesn't seem very exciting, it's the very beginning of everything. It doesn't do anything yet, but it will. Go check out "Custom Machines" in the Information/Downloads tab. And now the bad news:Insane Survival series and Twitch streams is what we're talking about here. It is still on my mind, and I still want to do it, but being a high school student and getting <1 Mbps download just isn't going to work. For now. But hey, there's Custom Machines! That detail thingy that I posted months ago is maybe... maybe for another mod. Custom Machines plans are now completely revamped, and will include some neat stuff, trust me. But, to see the features, download the mod! EDIT: Not yet it doesn't do anything now sorry. There will be a wiki on CM once it has a sizeable amount of stuff, but untill then just play around in the creative menu and stuff. Other Stuff:I've been playing some Running Red, Material Energy^3, Crash Landing, and TPPI lately. You might want to check out some of those modpacks - they're really awesome. Also, looking back through my previous posts, well - they were bad. "I think this [kinda neat experiment thingy] will be popular..." - really, self? Really? Well, let's not do that again.
~lifeofchrome Hello, world.
Well, I have been gone for a while from here (mainly because that I'm in school and I have summer with no school computer to write these kind of thingies on!). But, not from Earth, so let's get into it:
Hello, world.
Well, in the middle of last month, I moved to a new house. It isn't really a house as you might think, as it is kind of a house in a warehouse... The only walls are the warehouse walls and framing for the future house walls. AC was just implemented a week ago, and I'm living in a tent in the living room with a concrete floor. So, yeah, it's not that great. But good news - my computer is in a nice little sheetrocked off room with my kittens, and I can kinda do stuff there. However, internet has been quite a burden. For now, I have access to use a mobile hotspot for internet, which isn't really that great because I have about 3 or so GB per month for use, and it doesn't work sometime, and it's slow. But, infiniternet is coming soon! (Haha, I love that pun I just used) UPDATE 5/23/14: Well, looks like that infiniternet isn't coming as soon as i hoped... :( UPDATE 8/29/14: Infiniternet coming soon??? Maybe? Hopefully? I-don't-know-fully? So, what does this all mean? Well, I haven't even gotten started with modding. I haven't even downloaded Java yet, sadly. But, good news, I've watched 6 of 87 tutorial videos! Not much of an accomplishment, I know. Summer's coming soon (June!), and I am really looking forward to get to a start with this thing. And get this - all I have left for school is literally on a scrap of paper. Sweet. But most of that's finals. Not sweet. As always, check back for updates (May isn't over just yet!), and thanks for reading. -lifeofchrome P.S. Poll!!! This is a post strictly about the specifics of the upcoming mod, Custom Machines. There will be a series of these posts for each version. Sadly, I'm not getting to the Custom Machines of the mod yet. This is about Info and Early-Game. Custom Machines (CM) will make early game a bigger deal. It will sort of be like TerraFirmaCraft (TFC), but not nearly as drastic. First, punching trees = not going to work. Like in TFC, break leaves to get a stick. To get some stones, right click rocky soil (spawns randomly, looks like grass blocks, use Waila or right click around to find some) until you get some. Then use the stones to make some cobble for a stone axe, shovel, and pickaxe. Then continue like vanilla, but notice that ores are a bit different. Regular ore blocks are rare, but you can get ore bits randomly scattered around. Smelt each bit and get a nugget of that ore, and minimal fuel is needed. Put a wood plank in a crafting table to get 8 chunks of wood, these smelt 1 ore bit each. Or make an Ore Processor. It needs a little bit of power and an initial investment of a block of coal, but after that can process 8 ore bits at a time and produce 1 ingot. To make power, you can use 4 different methods for early game - the Wind Generator, the Hydroelectric Generator, the Manual Generator, or the Solar Generator. The Wind Generator will produce up to 1 Unit of Power (UP) per tick when outside. The Hydroelectric Generator will produce up to 1 UP/t when placed in flowing water (the flowing water and the generator can and must occupy the same block). The Manual Generator will produce up to 1 UP/t when a player right clicks the crank part of it. The Solar Generator will produce up to 1 UP/t when in the sun. To transmit the energy produced by a generator, use Metal Cabling. Lucky for you, the Ore Processor only needs 0.75 UP/t, leaving an extra 0.25 UP/t surplus. You can store the extra in a Battery. To get ores better, the Advanced Ore Processor makes it possible to extract tiny little ore fragments from rock. First, put cobblestone or mined stone (use silk touch on stone, to convert to regular stone - put in crafting table) in the input slot. Then, using 2 UP/t and over a course of 2 seconds it will break up the cobblestone into a powder. Then, using 5 UP/t and over a course of 3 seconds it will sift the powder into 0-4 stones and between 0-4 ore dusts of various types. It will store the ore dusts until it has sifted enough to get 25 ore dust of one type. Finally, using 2 UP/t and over a course of 1 second, it will compress the ore dust into a ore bit. Another thing added by CM is the Flashlight. Stick a battery in it and right click to have a beam of light emit from the flashlight, making mobs not be able to spawn there and increasing the light level to 12. (Battery stores 2500 UP, Flashlight uses 0.1 UP/t = lasts for 10 hrs, 50 mins) Another useful tool is the Safe Place Spawner. This, using a battery, will suck up 500 UP to put you in a safe little hut with a cake room, regen shower, and more for 45 seconds. It will also give debuffs to mobs within 75 blocks of the use of the Safe Place Spawner. Also note that Energy Traders have a rare chance of spawning, but have good deals on power. Also, breaking stone/cobblestone (stone is MUCH better) with a Pulverizing Drill will not only use 10 UP of the battery attached, but turn the stone into stone powder, which you can put in a sifter to get 0-4 stones and between 0-4 ore dusts of various types, which you can combine 25 in a 5x5 Crafter to make an ore bit. To learn all of this in-game, use the Machinist's Guide and the Engineer's HUD. Oh man, this is going to be an awesome mod. I can feel it. Let me know what you think in the comments! See you next time. ~lifeofchrome Hello, world.
UPDATE 5/21/14: Check out the Google Doc at http://bit.ly/InsaneSurvival for more information. Today I am very excited to announce my first YouTube series - Insane Survival! This series will start like a regular vanilla survival series, but every 30 minutes (real life time of gameplay, not minutes on video) it gets just a bit more insane. The first 30 minutes will be a timelapse of simple vanilla resorce gathering. Then, I will go to a creative testing world to show how I will make it a bit more insane, which is... "When it Rains, It Pours" - adding SimplySarc's Monsoon Box that will auto-trigger when it is raining. (Check out Sarc's demo video at http://youtu.be/kHPie8Zdi9w - its really neat!) Then it will be more vanilla, etc. I will make a post when the first video goes live at http://www.youtube.com/lifeofchrome so check back for updates. Hello, world. I am making a Minecraft Mod - Custom Machines for 1.7.2. Please read the image below for my plan.
UPDATE 5/22/2014: That photo was absolutely terrible. Sorry, the image below is better, and its v2!!! Hello, world. Today (well yesterday, that is) I made something called the Global Experiment. Check it out at bit.ly/theglobalexperiment and give it a try. I, for some reason, think this is going to be some really popular thing - but I realize that's probably not going to be the case. Anyway, thanks for reading. |
